October 2018: The Sikh faith is an often misunderstood religion in America. Some Sikhs, who traditionally wear turbans, are mistaken for Muslims. Sikhism is an independent religion that has its origins in the Indian state of Punjab. The Lotus Center for All Faiths hosted a talk by Dr. Baljit Sidhu, a highly respected Virginia physician (pain management and orthopedics) and a member of the Sikh community. He explained that the three duties that a Sikh must carry out can be summed up in three words: Pray, work, give—keeping God in mind at all times.
